The hybrid rose is a modern rose and is the outcome of two older roses:the hybrid perpetual and the tea rose. These modern and most beautiful growing roses appear on large stems and also bloom throughout the season. The scent is not strong but it certainly makes up for it in tall stature and many petals. These are the most popular roses in the hands of a florist and the kind you more than likely will receive for those special occasions.
Gardeners should really plant these roses in rows. It provides for less work in having them arranged in this way. It must, however,be weed free because these roses do not regard weeds as their friends. The spacing should be at least twenty-four inches apart from each other. This gives the roses a good growth habit. If you are an ambitious gardener, and up to the challenge of growing hybrid tea roses,by all means plant in the spring. You may start a tradition for yourself that hopefully will never be regretted.
The main reason that gardeners do not take to hybrids are those nasty thorns on the stems which can cause a lot of ouching and bleeding. Fear not for into every gardeners life comes some relief in the form of several thornless varieties. When you are shopping for this type of rose, look for the tags that read "smooth"on the label. This of course implies that the growing roses are thorn-free. I have never noticed this statement in catalog shopping so you might have to inquire as to the thorny situation.
Then comes the watering and hybrids in hot weather require lots of it. However you schedule your watering routine,if the soil appears dry and cracked, you must water your growing roses. A good idea would be to place some mulch around the plants. This not only keeps the moisture in place but assists in the control of the weeds.
A hybrid tea rose will more than likely attain its full height in three years. It will however, after pruning, grow back to its full height on an annual basis. These growing roses have a life span of six or seven years. The attentive gardener can make them live longer with exceptional care. This includes the proper amount of sunshine and some morning sun is essential to the roses growth. The morning sun aids in drying up moisture from over night dew and really helps in disease prevention.
The other essential gardening tip is to fertilize these hybrid roses starting in early spring with a high-nitrogen fertilizer. Please do not think one shot of fertilizer is sufficient. They should be fertilized once a month concluding with September. Make sure in the winter months you remove any debris that may have found its way to your plants because disease is one of the main downfalls to hybrid tea roses.
