Floribunda roses yet another of the growing roses for your garden

How many of you know, remember,or took Latin? Floribunda is of Latin origin and means "many flowers" or "abundance of flowers". This rose certainly is in keeping with its name. The Floribunda is the end result of crossing a hybrid tea and a polyantha in the early part of the last century. These flowers are known for their low growing large clusters. The Floribundas are considered to be a better growing roses than the hybrid tea because of its potential to produce large amounts of blooms over a long period of time. Many gardeners grow them just for display rather than cutting flowers. The Floribunda is a great landscape plant which will add a lot to your gardening pleasure.

These roses come in a very huge assortment of colors and various styles. The difference in comparison to the hybrid tea,is the intense vigor and hardiness of the plant. The Floribunda can grow up to four feet tall.A plant you might take note of is the one pictured above called Rob Roy. It has become increasingly popular among gardeners in recent years. It offers a sweet but soft scent and as you can see blooms in a deep red. They will bloom continually from spring until fall only interrupted by a severe frost. They are extremely bold when put into a mass planting.

PREPARE YOUR SOIL PRIOR TO PLANTING

You choose your garden spot and prepare the soil for the arrival of your growing roses. A nice compost of manure or other organic matter should be added to the soil. It is worth noting that vigorous growing roses such as these grow in a few inches of organic mulch. The proper distance for Floribunda is eighteen to twenty four inches apart. These guys love to have sufficient room to spread their wings in this case I guess it is roses.

The hole should be dug so you can spread the roots without restriction. A hole eight to ten inches deep is fine. At this point a little bone meal can be added to the soil. Now you are ready to put that first plant into its new home. After you have gently deposited the plant in the hole with its roots spread, backfill the hole with loose soil and then with a firm palm pack the loose soil in and around the plant. The next process is to provide the necessary water and please water thoroughly and continue for the first few weeks.

Just remember to perform your basic pruning in the late winter months.Remove all debris and dead foliage from the plants and the flower bed in which they reside. It is nice to endeavor to maintain some shape to your growing roses but be easy on the cuts. It has been noted by persons wiser than me that Floribundas under one year of age grow with vigor if a cane length of 6 inches is maintained. One more reminder do not forget the fertilizer as April arrives. Watch those flowers bloom beautifully in the months ahead.
