You should never water your roses with a water hose and hose end attachment that will wet the foliage of your rose bushes. Wet foliage contributes too, and spreads, black spot disease on roses.
Always water your roses at ground level, near the roots. A soaker hose will provide a slow, steady stream of water that the soil around your roses can absorb without wetting the foliage of the rose bush.
Another watering alternative is to ‘plant’ a watering pipe along with your rose bush when it’s planted. A piece of PVC pipe with a few holes drilled in it near one end and planted with your rose bush, having the other end of the PVC pipe above ground, will provide you with a rose watering system that ensures the roots will be watered while the rose foliage remains dry.
